Dark Fire has been published and is available through my website as well as at Amazon.com. Just search for Dark Fire by Claudia Newcorn to find it.

For those curious about the writing process for this book, it took over 2000 hours to write. The first draft was 654 pages long – the final book is 257; that should give you an idea of the editing efforts! The book was rewritten completely 5 times, and edited 9 times. It took five reams of paper (on both sides) all of which were recycled, as well as three ink cartridges.

As with Crossover, I was deeply involved with the cover design of the book, and it took several months to capture the look and feeling of Pook and Keothach.

I have added a Glossary and Pronunciation of Terms to the book at readers’ requests from Crossover.

A special thanks to my two very picky editors, Nick Pena and Patrick Walsh, who haggled many points with me, asked the right questions, and were determined to make sure the book continues with the same excitement as Crossover. I look forward to hearing what you think!

After over 2000 hours of writing, rewriting, and editing, I’m proud to announce that Dark Fire is headed for the presses with an expected release of late October, in time for the holidays.

Writing a trilogy is turning into an adventure in itself. The complexity of making sure all the story lines, characters, and concepts remain consistent throughout the tale and are properly linked is in itself a major project, necessitating extensive reviews and edits.

Perhaps the greatest challenge has been expanding the story beyond the Great Dell. In Dark Fire, not only is the tale about the feyree. Now you travel to Nonetre, realm of the fire daemiani. You journey with the High Harpist Shamarig to visit the Tor-ael, the northland elves. And you enter Revelstoke, High Seat of Feyree. All these folk, all these places, have had to be created and developed because they are such a vital part of the story.

In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be updating the website with a whole page on Dark Fire. Be the first to read excerpts from the book, see its dramatic cover, and read reviews from two magazines which were so excited about the book, they asked to preview it!

I’m biased as the author – but I think you’re gonna like it!

I’m delighted to share that Dark Fire, the second book in the Krisalys Feyree Chronicles has already had three magazines ask to be allowed to do a preview to be included on the book cover!

For those looking forward to the second book, I can share with you that it has been a wonderful challenge to write. I’ve had to develop the realm of Nonetre in great detail. You’ll get to meet the ael of the Northlands. And if you thought the Dolmen was something, wait until you meet Syar and Eshel!

Watch for some excerpts from the book coming in the future, plus a special pre-order offer that I’ll be posting in the near future. Thanks for all your great emails!
